The Spam Must Be Stopped

Most people just ignore spam when it comes their way, but I go out of my way to actively fight it. Whenever one of those spam emails manages to slip past my filter, I report it. People will often see no-reply@accounts.google.com, but they don’t realize that their assistance is always required. A collective effort by more people to stop spam in its tracks will make the Internet a better place for everyone. More creative methods of creating spam are made everyday, and if no one does anything about it, then it will overrun the Internet until we can’t even connect without problems.

In addition to sending reports whenever I get spam, I have special software installed on my computer that will block anything that a spam message will try to install on my computer. I’ve gotten quite a few blocks from the program when it catches something trying to sneak by. The program is pretty effective for something that is offered as a free version for a retail program. I imagine the retail version has even more features than what I am using now, but I am content with sticking with the free version, just as long as it continues to do the job.

My friends think I’m crazy for trying to report all of the spam messages I get, but if I don’t do it, no one else will. Some of my friends have gotten viruses from spam messages, but they don’t let it bother them. They just let someone else get rid of the virus for them and they just continue on as if nothing happened to their computer. If they took actions to stop the spam, they wouldn’t have gotten the virus in the first place. I guess I should be glad they aren’t asking me to fix their computers.
